Resumo
(1) A volunteer has been inoculated with the Eastern Nigerian strain of Zika virus. (2) Following an incubation period of 82 hours a mild, short-lived febrile condition occurred without evidence of involvement of any particular tissue or viscus. (3) Zika virus was isolated from the blood during the febrile period. (4) Aedes aegypti fed at the times of virus isolation failed to transmit the infection to infant white mice. (5) A rise in serum antibody to both Zika and yellow fever viruses was demonstrated by both mouse protection and haemagglutination inhibition tests.
